Website Wednesday—Construct A Word

Construct a Word

Here’s a fun literacy game that you can play at home.  Construct A Word is found on the ReadWriteThink website.

To play, your child will first pick a word ending (rime) and then use the provided letters or letter clusters to add onsets (the beginnings of words).  If the word your child makes is a ‘real word,’ then the constructor character will accept it and ask for another.  If the word is not a real word, the constructor will ask your child to try again.

This game will help your child see real and not real words, as well as gain  a vocabulary of rimes and rhymes.

Happy learning,
